As CEO of The Women’s Foundation and member of the Equal Opportunities Commission in Hong Kong, Su-Mei Thompson is passionate about equality. Despite the challenges, she’s optimistic about countering stereotypes, changing mindsets and improving the prospects of women and girls, as she told our K reporter.
Microsoft has concluded this year's GirlSpark camp, a three day event designed to encourage young female ICT talent in Hong Kong. The camp was held in collaboration with The Women's Foundation and the Ivey Business School. A total of 60 students participated in leadership forums, training, mentorship and hands-on project experience.
Su-Mei Thompson is the CEO of the non-profit Women’s Foundation. Originally a corporate financial lawyer, she built up a career at companies including Disney, the Financial Times and Christie’s before moving to head the NGO in 2009. She tells Andrea Lo how she went from climbing the corporate ladder to running a charity, and shares her hopes for the future of women’s rights.
