A Statistical Profile of Women and Girls in Hong Kong
In partnership with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, this report is a compilation of the most up-to-date statistics from the Census Department, Education Bureau, Women's Commission, Equal Opportunities Commission and other authoritative sources, to present a statistical profile of critical issues affecting women and girls in Hong Kong.
Findings include:
- A disproportionate number of highly educated women over 30 leave the workforce to take on marriage and family responsibilities
- Parents and children generally view housework as primarily women’s work, and many agree that women should put more emphasis on family than career
- There is very little gender disaggregated data available to make accurate assessments on whether women are progressing towards gender parity in the workplace
