TWF CEO, Su-Mei Thompson, will be a guest speaker at the UN’s Regional Forum in Beijing on Creating an Enabling Environment for Women’s Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship in Asia and the Pacific. The forum is organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in cooperation with the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) and in partnership with Goldman Sachs's 10,000 Women program.

Su-Mei will discuss:

  • The difficulties encountered by women owned businesses in attracting capital beyond microcredit
  • The lack of technological savvy which means women entrepreneurs aren’t leveraging the Internet to the extent they could and should to scale their businesses
  • The difficulty of attracting and retaining talent
  • The self-limiting perceptions that women have of themselves which means as a result, that women start less ambitious ventures that can be financed to a greater degree by their own available resources, instead of thinking bigger and bolder
