I received an email early this morning from Jane Or, Principal of Holy Trinity College, the Roman Catholic secondary school for girls in Shek Kip Mei. Jane shared with me an inspired and inspiring prayer for IWD that one of her F5 students, Kelly Wong, read out at this morning's school assembly.
Kelly's prayer ends with this call to action: "My dear schoolmates, starting from today, March 8, we take baby steps to help forge a better working world, a more inclusive gender equal world. If not us, who? If not now, when?" I encourage you to find a few minutes to read her full remarks - I'm sure they will resonate with you as much as they did with us. Incidentally, Kelly is a former participant in TWF's Life Skills Programme and Holy Trinity College has been one of our most enthusiastic and committed school partners for a number of years.
In breaking news - this afternoon, TWF will be unveiling a new campaign aimed at mobilising public support to end casual sexism, the objectification of women and inequality in the workplace. Please visit our campaign website www.myrealcareerline.hk which will be up from 3PM today to find out more!
Finally, as some of you know from yesterday's Connect, I will be participating in Facebook's #SheMeansBusiness Live which is convening female diplomats, politicians and business leaders from around the world to celebrate IWD. Tune into our Facebook Page at 4PM today for my live webcast on Cleavages, Careerlines and Enduring Sexism in Hong Kong and details of our new campaign tackling sexism and inequality in the workplace. Here's the link to our Facebook Page. Feel free to post any questions and comments during my live cast!
However and whatever you are doing today to celebrate IWD - remember to #BeBoldForChange!
