This is my first week on board at The Women's Foundation and am beyond excited to join this incredible organisation.
I would like to thank and acknowledge our former CEO, Su-Mei Thompson for her outstanding leadership and tireless efforts to further the interests of women and girls in Hong Kong.
TWF has been a significant part of my life for many years as a former Mentor in our Mentoring Programme and as a member of the Women on Boards Advisory Council. The support, learnings and friendships I have gained from TWF have had a huge impact on my life and am now delighted to come full circle and join TWF in a formal capacity. I look forward to working with Deputy CEO, Rita Ching and all the incredible TWF team, our dedicated Board and of course each of you as our important stakeholders, donors and programme beneficiaries.
I would like to assure you all that our foot is not off the pedal and we will continue, with your support, to advocate for and deliver world class programmes for women and girls in Hong Kong. At a time when gender diversity is under challenge from various quarters, it has never been more important for us to keep striving for a fairer and more inclusive society where the equal rights and human possibility of both women and men are fully realised.
In my first 100 days, I will be focusing on getting to know our staff and operations and diving deeper into the key issues for women and girls in Hong Kong so we can continue to deliver ground breaking programmes with nimble and innovative infrastructure.
As always, we would love to hear your ideas and feedback so please do get in touch at Fiona.Nott@twfhk.org and I look forward to connecting with you all at our events and programmes over the coming weeks.
I will leave you with an inspirational quote from one of our heroes at TWF.
“This isn’t just, ‘girls are better than boys, boys are better than girls.’ This is just, ‘everyone deserves a fair chance.’” – Emma Watson, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador
Have a fantastic week!
